Raising the Rent
It's kind of disappointing, but my rent is being raised in September. I still pay less than most of my friends in Boston, but it's going from $375 to $459.
We get a new roommate on July 1st. Zhana, our Khazah roommate is moving out, and Ticiana, a Brazilian girl is moving in. I'm excited because July 1st is the beginning of our new No Shoes Inside policy, which I've been pushing!!
Jaime had a great trip in Boston. He got to meet all my friends, students and co-workers. He told me his highlights of the trip were swimming, eating in the Russian restuarant and unlimited internet access!! He also said he would consider moving to Boston someday!
My friend Musa (a reporter from Turkey) said Jaime was the first American he met who was knowledgeable about politics and had his own, new ideas on how to repair things. They spent hours talking and were really impressed with one another!
I'm going to Cirque do Soleil with Tayna and Sonia, my co-workers today. Sunday I've got more softball and a Brazilian concert in the evening. Wednesday is the 4th and I'll have pictures to post!

In Boston with Jaime
I'm back in Boston and guess who I brought with me?!?! My little bro!!!! Being together made the drive from Detroit to Boston so much better, and we are having a great time together now. I sure did miss that little rascal.
Jaime will be here until Thursday. We've got lots of good restaurants and entertainment planned. Right now he is out playing pool with Yerbol, Talgat's younger brother. They met last night when Talgat took us to dinner at Cafe St. Petersburg and ordered wine and cavier! He knows how to celebrate!!
I'm supposed to be cleaning the house now. I'm so tired and lazy. Tomorrow we are going to see my friend Sidney break-dancing at MIT (Jaime needs some night-life.) and Wednesday we'll play tennis with Musa and Erdem.
Unfortunately I didn't bring my powercord and I'm using battery power for my Mac until my mom sends me the forgotten power source. (Thanks Mom!) I have some pictures to share from the cross-country trip, though. As soon as I have power!!
And good news---Erdem and I appear to be dating again. I am very happy and he looks very happy, too. Jaime gives his approval. Erdem is hot stuff!
