Finally getting around to the blog.

I just got back from a weekend in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It's the beautiful, natural area of the state with lots of lakeside views and plenty of information of freighters!! We saw the locks where freighters are moved up the river's waterfalls vertically, and visited the accompanying museum. There were lots of small souvenir shops and seafood restaurants, although it was the end of the season and most of the ice cream shops were closed!! Bummer!

I'm glad to be home for the week though, I'm nearly finished completing my job applications at Lesley University. I'm applying for a few positions in hopes that I can begin working late this year or early January. I'm anxious to get them perfected and sent in as soon as possible!

Anyway, since I'm not taking pictures here in Detroit, I've got lots from Oregon still to post.

Here is my cat Brain in some bunny ears.

Here is Kate, who is renting what used to be my bedroom at the farm, also in bunny ears.

Yuki and Elsie---they were inseparable almost the whole month!

Kate's amazing vegetable garden! We ate tomatos and lettuce and zucchini and even melon from it. The variety and flavor of the tomatos were definitely the best I'd had in a long, long time.

I took Yuki on a bike ride through Laurel. It was so much fun, I don't know why I didn't do more biking before Japan. Here is Yuki with the wheat fields and setting sun.

And me biking.

I love the mountainous Goto surrounded by the blue-green sea, but I missed this landscape so much!

Yuki got this one of my mom and I driving the Honda.

I told you! They were best friends!

I had my birthday bash at the farm. All the family and some friends came over for a huge Japanese buffet dinner! (Thanks Yuki for all your help--and thanks Mama for all the groceries!)

I missed my cousins Lauren and Madison so much when I was in Japan! And they didn't stop growing just because I was gone!!

My cousins, friend Steven and Yuki post-water balloon fight!! What a good idea to give water balloons for my birthday! Arigato Steven!!

And taking Yuki to the airport was such a sad day--for Elsie especially!

I'm so hungry I have to go get some dinner immediately, but I hope to be back blogging soon!
