five posts in one night?

Only if it means getting that horrible excuse for a poem off the front page!!!

A Few of My Favorites From Thailand

I’m putting just five of my favorite Thailand ocean pictures here.

Considering we arrived at the airport with absolutely nothing (no plan, no reservations, no Lonely Planet or even travel ideas) we did pretty well. We asked a woman at the airport tourist counter where she recommended we go and then made it our “personal legend” to reach the Similan Islands. We spent half our time getting to Simlian and the other half getting back from them, but the two day, one night stay on the small archipelago made the travel time time well-spent.

These are the Simlian Islands

We rode more buses and hailed more taxis (well, you don’t actually have to hail them, the drivers come running after you.) than you can shake a stick at. Any type of bus we were willing to quickly jump aboard—not always understanding where exactly it was going. We traveled in style on the VIP night bus from Krabi to Bangkok, but also had our share of rusty, city buses full of Thai people and doors that never closed.

I’ll remember the clear-blue ocean, the international tourists, and the great massages, but I’ll visit again for the warm, hospitable and beautiful people.

Hi, from China!

My friend Corrine and her husband Matt are living in China now. Congratulations!!!

I deserve to be on the Show-Me-Your-Wound website I linked to last year.

Wanna see the pictures of the nasty wart that started to take over the bottom of my foot? I’ve decided I don’t care anymore. I’m not embarrassed of a wound like this!!! Well, I guess I care a little since I’m making you open a separate page to see it. You can look, but I just don’t want you to loose your dinner…

WARNING: THIS IS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!
The first picture is after my first trip to the dermatologist in Nagasaki. He gave me an extra-long treatment of liquid nitrogen. After that I couldn’t walk so I went to the surgeon and he cut it off and this is what it looked like after that treatment.

It's getting better, I think!

The Drought

I knew I hadn’t written much recently, but when I looked back I’ve only written FOUR TIMES THIS MONTH! That’s a new record for me. Sorry for the dry spell. I do actually have a lot to write about, but mostly they’re hospital stories and I’m just embarrassed to talk about them. That’s the other record I made this month: Number of Hospital Visits! The winning number is four again (!!) but that’s only so far! I’ve got another appointment scheduled for early next week too.

Quiz me on the medical departments in Japanese!! Do it, do it!
Dermatology? Piece of cake!! 皮膚科(ひふか)Internal medicine? Easy as pie!! 内科(ないか)Give me harder one! Surgery? 外科(げか)and today I learned OB/GYN 産婦人科(さんふじんか)
